Which came first?
Hmmm maybe baking? I’ve always had a sweet tooth (I get that from my dad!), but maybe I wasn’t really baking on my own as much until after I started modeling. Now they go hand in hand. Balancing your career and hobbies can definitely be tricky at times, but it’s super important to do so, for your own sanity and peace of mind if nothing else! I’ve always been very well organized and focused when I need to be, so I stay on top of my responsibilities and prioritize based on importance. Make time for work and play!
One opportunity that was most memorable was when I got the opportunity to open the Alexander Wang show. I had never really done any big shows at fashion week before, and it all happened so fast. I got to work with Alex and his team the week leading up to the show doing looks, and it was so fascinating to be a part of the whole process. He told me backstage that I’d be opening the show, and I was thrilled and nervous and excited at the same time! It totally changed my career and for that I’m ever grateful.
Facts and Favorites
What would someone be surprised to know about you? I played the violin for 12 years, and still have one that I play every once in a while for nostalgia's sake!
If you could go back in time to a certain era, what would it be? Maybe the 1960s and run with the likes of Jane Birkin!
If you could be anyone for a week, who would it be? Perhaps a famous pastry chef, so I could perfect my pastry skills and steal all their tricks of the trade
What are 3 things your could never live without? Family, friends, and sweets!
Sweets for the Sweet
I just try to bake things that I think people will enjoy and make them smile. Classics are always a good choice, but it’s fun to play with seasonal ingredients and flavors as well! Carrot cake is my favorite dessert of all-time, so probably the most comforting as well! Although anything super fudgy and chocolatey wouldn’t hurt either.
Fortunately, I haven't had any crazy obstacles I have had to face, I’ve been very lucky to get to do what I do. That being said, to succeed in this industry, you do need to build a thick skin, so to speak. There’s quite a lot of rejection, and you will constantly be judged on how you look. Sometimes there really is no rhyme or reason to why things happen the way they do! I love the quote, “comparison is the thief of joy” (by President Roosevelt), and think it’s perfectly relevant at any age. You do you!
